Site Banners

Below are all our website banners as well as some of the graphics I cobbled together back in the day (the stuff below the 'shield'). For 11 years prior to 2019 I had the banners done by a graphics guy, but he priced himself out of my range. I'm now doing them myself, for better or for worse. My skill level is just as pathetic as it was when we first came 'online' but I still work cheap, so there's that.

The blue banner with the red border and chrome lettering was made by a nice young lady who was trying to learn the graphics business and was doing stuff for free just for practice. She insisted on tweaking it until I was happy with it. It was part of our very first web identity back before we got to Myfantasyleague.com. I hope she had a successful career in the business. Also of note are a long-lost 2009 banner that didn't make the cut and the 2020 banner that was all but locked in for the season before I changed it. Sleepless nights spent angsting over fantasy football site banners...very lame.

Below those are a couple of black and white masthead-style banners from the original 'snail-mail' newsletter and stat sheet. Those were handmade using press-down lettering and I thought we were high-tech at the time! I had stationery made from them at Office Depot and I bet I still have a partial box of it somewhere around here.

At the very bottom is our very first 'Hughes News' newsletter, dated September 9, 1980! It was (mostly) typed on an old Royal on the back of some Houston Post stationery at the Post building, a wonderful place to work back then. Not every issue that year was as elegant. Some newsletters were simply handwritten. We've come a long way in the four decades and change since.

All of this will eventually become a part of the 'League History' site that I hope to put together in the not-too-distant future. Good stuff!
